Traveling and Health

The topic of the second oral test are from units 9 and 10 from the Breakthough Plus book. Unit 9 is adventure to another country or places or just having an adventure. Unit 10 is all about going to see the doctor and telling the doctor what's the problem.

The task is students will find a partner and create a conversation. The A person will play a traveler and The B person will play two characters: a friend and the doctor. 

For example, a person is going to Korea and ate too much kimchi. Kimchi is an unusual food for the traveler because she might not have kimchi for her entire meal. Now, this is the time that the person must go to see the doctor. Students need to use vocabulary words from units 9 and 10.

Vocabularies from unit 9 "Adventures"

Adventures: horseback riding, hang gliding, mountain biking, water-skiing, skydiving, hot-air ballooning, scuba diving, sailing, etc.


Countries: America, Europe, France, Australia, New Zealand, etc.


Adjectives: confused, disappointed, frightened, relaxed, worried, etc.


Vocabularies from unit 10 "Health"

Symptoms: the flu, a cough, a cold, a toothache, be stressed out, a headache, sore eyes, a backache, a sunburn, a fever, a sprained ankle, stomach ache, a sore throat, problems sleeping, asthma, infection, insect bite, upset stomach, aching muscles, etc.


Remedies: drink a lot of water, go to the dentist, go to the doctor, lie down, stay in bed, take aspirin, take some medicine, take some vitamin, try to relax, use lotion, take antibiotics, use eye drops, use inhaler, drink a lot of liquid, take a hot bath, etc.

Second Oral Test 2014 (J1) "Adventure"

Here is your task for your second oral test, April 28 - May 6, 2014

Task:
1. You are going to be a travel agent, you are going to create
week long travel itinerary of your ideal trip. You are
going to advertise your trip.
2. You can choose a place / places where you want to go, 
length of time, budgets, transportation they are going to 
use, etc.
3. You are going to make a travel brochure. 

Vocabulary:

Transportation:
Taxi, cable car, cruise, ship, helicopter, RV, kayak, sailboat, skateboard, subway, underground, jey ski, in-line skate, convertible, hot air balloon, blimp, motorcycle, scooter, etc.

Lodging:
Guest house, campsite, hostel, hotel, motel, homestay, dormitory, etc.

J2A Oral Test Breakthrough Plus

Junior Two are using the Breakthrough plus units 7 and 9. They are doing the oral test on food and they have to build their own recipe. They have to present it in front of the class. They can make a PPT with pictures only and they have to say ingredients and preparation.

Oral Task:
Two people in one group, create a recipe and present it in front of the class. They have to use vocabulary words from units 7 and 8. Two minutes each group.

Junior One Oral Test 2014

The oral test for junior one of this year is "Ordering at the Restaurant." They are three people in one class and they have to make a conversation how to order at the restaurant in a second language. One student will be the waitress and the other two students are the customers.

Oral Task:
With a partner, make a menu and build a conversation (between a waitress and a customer) using the sentences and vocabulary in the lesson. Next, present it in front of the class. One minute each person or 10 sentences each.

Grading criteria: Menu 10 pt, conversation 20 pt. Total of 30 points.

Sheng Kung's 46th Birthday

Today is our school's birthday. Everyone in our school is really happy today, stduents did not even want to study, they want to have fun. In the afternoon, we will have a big program, some stduents will dance and perform. All of us are reall happy. The song of today is from the Taiwanese pop music 伍思凱, the song is 生日快樂 (happy birthday).
