I am the Judge!

Today is Junior Ones' (seventh grader) Jazz Chant competition. I am going to be the judge of this competition. I am very excited to see my students' performance. This is the invitation to be a judge in this competition. This is our Assembly. It is huge and students in this competition they will need to speak louder. In the middle, there's a table where I am going to seat to be the judge. Here I am seating on the table, I am ready. They also gave me grading papers. I am waiting for other judges to come.

直週老師's Lunch

During the week of my duty, the school gave me a free lunch everyday. The lunch is not good. The quantity of food is not enough. Anyways, this week, I did not even need to worry about cooking and bring my lunch to school.

終於直週老師結束了!!

Today is Friday, finally, my duty is already finished. I had very tough duty, I have to stand in front of school's door and see student's uniform. If they do not wear appropriate uniform, I have to deduct points.

In western schools, teachers do not have to stand in front of school door and see students. Here schools in Asia, teachers have to stand in front of schools. Asian teachers not only teach in the classroom but also, they have to do some other extra works at schools.

The worst part is, teachers in Asia do not earn as much as teachers in western countries such as USA, Australia, or New Zealand.

This was a tough duty, I have to be 7:00 AM at school and leave at 6:00 PM. All my family have to leave early with me. My lovely husband is helping me a lot in this week. I drive Alan to my school and my husband is picking him up and drop him to school. David will take Alan to eat breakfast. Alan loves that. This week, father and son had a good relationship.

Next week, I do not have to do it my duty anymore. I am very happy now, I believe my family is happy too.

From February 20th to February 27th, I have to do my duty. I have to check students' uniform. This duty is very tough, I have to arrive at school early and leave school late. More than that, during nap time, I have to see if the school is clean or not. It is very tiring duty. I really do not understand why Taiwanese schools made us to do it.

Finally...

Can see imagine how many test papers are here? Well, I have total of 12 classes. 50 students per class. You can see 50 x 12 = 600. Yes, it is 600 test papers for my class only to grade. I have to finish it in two days. Is that possible? Yes, it is possible because I made only 20 question, 2 points each question and everything is multiple choice questions. So it should be easy for me to grade ABC's or BBC's. After two days, I grade them all.

Monitoring the Exam

In these days, I have to monitor the exam. We are in the finals exam. In my school, we have three days to finish the exam. Students have to study for the test and teacher have to finish grading the test. During the exam time, students have to put their backpacks in the hallway. It is because to prevent cheating. This is the floor of eight graders only. We have total of 10 classes for 8th graders. Five classes in one side of the hallway and the other five will be in the other side of the hallway. Each class will have 50 students. You can imagine 50 x 10= 500. Yes, it is 500 students on this floor.

This is the class I monitored the exam. Before I arrived to their classrooms, they have to put their backpacks outside.

This is 8th grader class D. I have been monitoring them 3 times in two days. I think they are tired to see me. When I arrived to their classroom, they asked me why are you here teacher? why you again? I do not know why, I am just here.

After giving the test papers to the students, they start to concentrate on their tests. They cannot even say one word. They cannot see each other. They have to see their test papers only.

Burritos

Today is a happy hour for everyone of us at my Spanish class. We are making Mexican Burritos. This is me and my students here preparing for the burritos. The entire class brought their own ingredients. Everyone is moving and preparing for the food

I divide students in each group, each group has to bring their own ingredients. For example, some groups will bring cheese, some groups will bring lettuce, others will bring rice, meat, onions, tomatoes, and more. I myself as a teacher brought tortillas for them. I also prepared corn soup.

Students will need to wash, cut all the ingredients and put all the ingredients in separate plates.

Food is ready, students are ready to eat. I taught them how to rap into a burritos. They are all excited and hungry.

Everybody is doing their work here. Everyone seems enjoyed eating.

Everyone had their own tortillas. They are very busy making the food.

Even we needed one hour to prepare for the food, after they enjoyed eating Burritos. For them burritos is very special dish. My hard work is paid off. Even tortillas costs me a lot of money.

My little TA, Lifely is helping in this project at the end everyone had burrito except for her. Through this lesson, I taught everyone sharing with others not just think by themselves.

Singer

This is my J1D class. They are very active in my class. Even they are very active, they did the best oral ever in this semester.

I could see from each group their hard work.

I divide them into groups of three. One has to be the newscast, another one , the reporter, and the third one is the singer. The singer has to change her clothe because they are going to talk about outfits.

Also, the person who is going to be the singer, she needs to sing a song. The song that she is going to sing, doesn't have to be too long. I just want a little bit.

This group is the best one. I think after this semester, they are going to have another teacher. I will have my new group of students. I am really going to miss them very much.

Assignment for oral:

Divide students into groups, two or three.
One student has to be the newscast, another one the reporter and the third one the singer. The singer has to sing a song and everything has to be in English.

Newscast:
The newscast has to say the singer's life. She has to say in one paragraph about her life. What did she do, what kind of job did she have before, what is her new album, etc.

Reporter:
The job of the reporter has to catch the singer. Just pretend they are in a singer's concert. When the pop star has the free time, the reporter must go and interview her.

Here the reporter has to ask questions in English. Also, she needs to say her outfits in English (Clothing Style). She can tell her to introduce about her hometown, etc.

Singer:
As singer must be active. remember she or he is the singer. She has to sing her new song, so everyone would buy her CD. Also, she will need to answer all the questions.

Overall, this project is a lot of fun, they have been planning for two hours, and after two hours, they did a great job! I am very proud of them.

Students

These are my Junior One I students. They are very hard workers. They always want a good grade in my class. This is the last day of the semester, I won't see them until next year, if God let me.

I am going to have new students for next semeter. We switch students from semester to semester. I am really going to miss them. This is Grace. Her brother, Sam is my son's classmate. This is a small world. I will know everyone around me.

Catherine and Annie are very good students. They are not only cute but also hard workers.I really had a great time teaching my Junior Advance class. This is my first time teaching advance class, I really enjoying beign with them.

Itinerary

This is my Junior One I Oral test. In my class, English Conversation, students will prepare test speaking in English. This class is doing Itinerary. I made them to prepare three days trip, they have to choose one country outside of their own.

It is like travel's agency, they have to plan a schedule for people to choose the plan. Also in the back of the paper they have to include suggestions and recomendations, emergecy numbers, address and of course the cost.

This group made canada, they plan three days trip to Edmonton, Banff, and Vancouver.

They provide the most important sites in each city. They also give suggetsions and recomendations.

This is Glory, My Tz and her partner. They made three days trip to France.

They planed very comfortable trip to this country. Also, there's interesting sites and food to eat.

Vanessa and Celine are planing the trip to California, USA. they include the most ntersting places of the city.

They laid out nicely what is special over there.

This is the trip to Australia, made by Catherine and Doris. This itinerary is great, they have pictures and words. I thought they made a great job here.

This group also did a great job doing their project.

Overall, everyone seems enjoying thier project. At the end of the project, they can take it home. I just took pictures for future references.

At end of the project, they have to made a report. They cannot read anything, what they have to do is doing the overall summary.

I really enjoying teahcing them, unfortunately, after Chinese New year, I will have my new group of students. I am going to miss them all.

Introducing singer, Junior One E

This is my junior one E class. They are very good kids in this class. I taught them to be polite. When they were late, they will say "Sorry" to me. I am very lucky in this semester to have good kids like them. I am really going to miss them after we change class.

This is the first group, they have a lot of imagination. Even people in this group is a little bit shy, but they did a great job. The girl who is a singer, she did not even sing louder.

This group with my TA is very active. They can try many things. They can talk very loud, so everyone can heard them.

Sophi is very good student, she is always helping me explaining things in Chinese for them. She is an easy going person in her class.
Group of Jane is also very outgoing.

They are so happy doing the oral test in my class. I can see a lot of smiles. It is so good to heard them speaking in English.

Lulu is trying very hard speaking English in my class. From this test, I can see how much effort she prepared. This group of students are very hard working. They want always a perfect score in my class.

Overall, even some students are very shy and some of them are outgoing in the class, I can see their effort that they are putting in this test. I am very happy to see them growing and improving at the same time.

J1B Oral test
